In an attempt to alleviate the problems of global warming, Tamil Nadu-based organisation The MS Chellamuthu Trust and Research Foundation has begun a tree planting campaign.
Trust Founder C Ramasubramanian said that planting saplings would help protect the soil.
Initially 100 saplings will be planted at the Trust’s campus at Algarkoll, rising to 1,000 after 23 self-help groups receive more trees.
Meanwhile a job fair jointly organised by the Trust saw 80 people with disabilities recruited.
The February fair was held in Madurai, Tamil Nadu and attracted 109 people.
