Solar lighting project in Uganda

GLI is supporting this project of Community Based Organisation, Mivule, to bring solar lighting to 3,000 people in subsistence farming villages in Eastern Uganda, allowing them, during the hours of darkness, to undertake basic tasks, including household chores and income-generating work, and children to study. A savings programme has also been started which will ensure that solar lighting equipment parts can be replaced as they wear out, thereby guaranteeing the sustainability of the project.
